amplifying voices within the West African media sector

WeOwnTV is a collaborative media education project that promotes self-expression and supports other filmmakers and artists through media education, mentorship, and direct grants.

In 2009, our organization co-founded the WeOwnTV Freetown Media Center together with Sierra Leonean media makers Arthur Pratt and Lansana ‘Barmmy Boy’ Mansaray.

Over the past six years, WeOwnTV has grown to support the media literacy, civic awareness and engagement, and digital production skills that facilitate workforce development in Sierra Leone.

We have supported ongoing educational effort, and individual projects produced out of the media center. The WeOwnTV Filmmaker Fellowship, which was launched in 2016, represents the first opportunity for funding in which we have invited applications via an open call submission process.
